1. HEC has the worst dispersion ability compared with the commonly recognized methyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, but has the strongest protective colloid ability.

2. The non-ionic type can coexist with other water-soluble polymers, surfactants and salts in a wide range. It is an excellent gel thickener containing high concentration electrolyte solution.

3. The water retention capacity is twice as high as that of methylcellulose, and it has better flow regulation.

4, HEC can be dissolved in hot water or cold water, high temperature or boiling without precipitation, so that it has a wide range of solubility and viscosity characteristics, and non thermal gelatinization.

Since the surface treated hydroxyethyl cellulose is powder or cellulose solid, it is easy to operate and dissolve in water as long as the following matters are paid attention to.

1. When using high viscosity hydroxyethyl cellulose, the concentration of mother liquor should not be higher than 2.5-3%, otherwise the mother liquor is difficult to operate. After the treatment of hydroxyethyl cellulose, it is not easy to form a block or a ball, and does not form insoluble spherical colloid after adding water.

2. Before and after the addition of hydroxyethyl cellulose, it is necessary to keep stirring until the solution is completely transparent and clear.

3. As far as possible, the fungicide should be added as early as possible.

4. Water temperature and pH value of water have obvious relationship with the dissolution of hydroxyethyl cellulose, which should be paid special attention to.

5. Do not add alkaline substances to the mixture before the hydroxyethyl cellulose powder is soaked by water temperature. It is helpful for dissolution to increase the pH value only after temperature penetration.

6. It must be slowly sieved into the mixing drum. It is not allowed to directly add a large amount or spherical hydroxyethyl cellulose into the mixing drum.
